Woman identified in fatal Middletown crash

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (WLNE) -The man Middletown Police said is responsible for the death of a Providence College student was released on bail, after facing charges of driving under the influence in a Newport courtroom Monday morning.
Officers responded to the scene on Third Beach Road at around 2:30 a.m. Saturday and found a car overturned in the road.
Kailyn Newton, 22, a Providence College student was found unresponsive and later died at the hospital.
During the investigation, Police found that the driver, Patrick Carson, 23, was impaired when he was behind the wheel.
He was transported to Newport Hospital for minor injuries.
Carson is charged with one count of Driving Under the Influence-Death Resulting and one count of Driving to Endanger-Death Resulting.
Carson posted $50,000 surety bail and is due back in court in January.
