PROVIDENCE, R.I. — House Republicans have submitted a bill to keep Rhode Island taxpayers from paying for a new Pawsox stadium.
The team’s owners have pushed for a taxpayer funded system, but the bill would allow voters to get a say in the decision.
House Minority Leader Patricia Morgan says it is the multi-millionaire owners who should pay for the ballpark not taxpayers.
“We’re not going to make that much income tax. It’s nice, but not a necessity,” said State Representative Patricia Morgan.
The bill has bipartisan support.
