DEM officer hurt by a booby trap in Bristol

BRISTOL, R.I (WLNE) – An officer of the DEM was injured by a booby trap left by an unknown person on Friday morning.
According to a post from the RI DEM, environmental police officers were working to remove illegal and baited tree stands from town property along Gooding Avenue.

While carrying the stands out of the woods, one officer was hurt by boards with nails sticking up that had been left behind.
The boards were concealed in leaves along the trail.
An investigation to identify the suspect is underway.
