Department of Health now has online medical marijuana card registration system

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Health now has an online medical marijuana card registration system.
Joseph Wendelken, a spokesperson for the Department of Health, said the online portal’s processing time is shorter and eliminates the need to fill out and mail paper document — like the prior system.
The Rhode Island Cannabis Licensing Portal allows existing card holders renew registration, update personal information, and make changed to their current registration cards.
New patients can also apply for their cards through the portal.
Wendelken said the portal can also be used by caregivers who’ve been selected by a card holder and approved by the Department of Business Regulation to obtain their marijuana registration card.
Caregivers can visit dbr.ri.gov for more information.
Wendelken said the DOH will stop mailing registration reminders and renewal forms in the coming months.
“It is very important that patients create an account in the portal to be sure they get important messages and updates from [the department], including renewal reminders 60 days before the expiration date,” he said.
If your registration expires in the next 14 days, you should call DOH’s Medical Marijuana Program at 401-222-3752. For any other questions, email doh.mmp@health.ri.gov.
