Department of Health recommends closing 3 beaches due to bacteria levels

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Health is recommending three beaches due to unsafe bacteria levels.

RIDOH said that Briar Point Beach in Coventry, Hope Community Service Pond in Scituate, and Georgiaville Pond Beach in Smithfield should be closed to swimming after testing them for bacteria.

Officials said the department of health will continue to monitor the quality of the water and release changes as new data becomes available.
