Department of Health updates swimming status of two beaches

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Health is recommending one beach be closed and one reopened for swimming Friday.

RIDOH said that Burlingame State Park Picnic Area in Charlestown should be closed due to high bacteria levels.

The department also recommended that Ginny B’s Campground in Foster be reopened because bacteria levels are back to a safe reading.

Officials said the department of health will continue to monitor the quality of the water and release changes as new data becomes available.
