Providence police released this booking photo of Christopher Anderson.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence police said Tuesday they arrested a city worker accused of delivering drugs while on the job.

On Sept. 15, police said they executed an arrested warrant on Christopher Anderson for unlawful delivery of fentanyl.

Anderson, authorities said, was a Department of Public Works employee.

The investigation resulted in the seizure of about 1,176 blue glassine bags of suspected fentanyl that weighed a total of 23.5 grams, said police.

Providence police released this image of blue glassine bags of suspected fentanyl seized during an investigation last week.

The 23-year-old was arraigned in Providence District Court Tuesday morning.

No further information was immediately released.

In a statement to ABC 6 News, a spokesperson for the Department of Public Works said Anderson was placed on administrative leave with pay on Sept. 20, pending the outcome of a hearing with human resources and the union.
