Did marathon bomber get fair trial? Court weighs arguments

BOSTON, Mass. (AP) – The Boston Marathon bomber’s lawyers urged a federal court to overturn their client’s death sentence, arguing that intense media coverage and signs of juror bias led to an unfair trial.
The judges at Thursday’s hearing in the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals focused most of their attention on why two jurors were allowed to remain even after social media posts were uncovered suggesting they harbored strong opinions.
They also probed lawyers for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev on their contention that the 2015 trial should not have been held in Boston.
The judges didn’t render a decision. Tsarnaev wasn’t present at the hearing.
