DMV to launch RI license plate contest

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE)- The Rhode Island DMV announced the “RI State Plate Design Contest” on Tuesday.
Rhode Island residents are encouraged to create a new license plate design that visually represents the Ocean State, with the contest running from December 7 through January 7.
The winning design will become the new state-issued plate, replacing the current “Blue Wave” design starting summer 2022.
DMV employees will pick five finalists by the end of February 2022 based on meeting necessary legal, technical, and visibility standards.
The top five will be featured on the DMV’s website for residents to vote.
All plate design entries must follow specific guidelines, which can be found on the RI DMV website.
