Dominican national sentenced for illegal reentry, facing third deportation
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Dominican national facing deportation for a third time was sentenced in court on Wednesday for illegal reentry, according to Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom.
49-year-old Celso Herrera-De Los Santos was sentenced to time served.
Herrera was deported in 2011 and 2017, according to Bloom.
Herrera was charged with illegal reentry after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers discovered he was being held at the Adult Correctional Institutions in May.
Bloom said Herrera was being held at the ACI for charges of possession with intent to deliver cocaine and possession with intent to deliver one ounce to one kilogram of cocaine.
The defendant pled guilty on July 29 for illegal reentry.
