Dreary weather lingers into the weekend; record rain and flooding for NYC area
It was a dreary Friday across the area, but it could have been a whole lot worse.
Parts of the New York City tri-state area picked up over half a foot of rain in a matter of hours, washing out cars, streets and homes. Their governor delcared a state of emergency.
Here across Southern New England we picked up around .5″ to 1.5″ of rain today, with the higher totals in Rhode Island. Rain will continue overnight as the energy of this storm system shifts more to the coast. This will mean areas south and east have the best chance to see rain later into the day on Saturday. Areas far north and west may see some sun in the afternoon as the storm pushes further out to sea.
The end is in sight, as skies will clear Saturday night and we will have plenty of sunshine Sunday for several days. The first week of October will also feature above average temperatures, with highs getting close to 80 midweek!
Have a great night and weekend.
