Driver involved in 93 crash speaks out

The man who somehow survived after driving off 93 North in Boston is speaking out about his near death experience.

“I woke up the sound of I think it was the paramedics or the EMT’s. I think ripping the car door open,” said Vannak Sao.

All things considered, the 33-year-old is doing surprisingly well.

He has some broken bones and a nasty cut above eye. He’s now recovering at his parent’s home in Attleboro.

“I remember hitting the snow bank. The truck got shaky. I thought it tipped over. When I watched the video an hour and a half ago, I realized what happened,” said Sao.

Sao admits he had a couple of drinks before Sunday’s crash. He says exhaustion from his third shift job also played a role.

He is facing drunk driving charges.

“I have nothing to hide. I had a few drinks. In combination with everything else it didn’t help,” said Sao.

In hindsight, Sao says driving was a bad idea. For now, he just feels lucky to be alive and fortunate he didn’t hurt anyone else.

“I feel idiotic, a little bit. Excuse my language. But, that’s how I feel,” said Sao.

Sao’s license was revoked following the crash.
