The lack of significant rain across Southern New England is putting local farms in jeopardy. Farmer’s here at this organic farm in Rehoboth say the crops that are surviving the dry summer season are only producing half of what they normally do.
Following four months of unseasonably dry weather, more than 60–percent of the state of Massachusetts is now facing severe drought.
“We had an early crop of strawberries in may, but the second crop is gone. The loss of one fruit is pretty serious for us, the loss of two or three is on the border of catastrophic, “ says Farmer Barbara Link.
Link says revenue is down almost 30- percent.
