SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — A man driving a dump truck crashed into a home in South Kingstown on Friday night, according to police.
Pieces of siding, wood and glass litter the ground, a gaping hole left in 917 Broad Rock Road. Neighbors woken up late Friday night by all the commotion.
"We heard a large crash and then my husband came downstairs and heard glass and people talking and he called 911, he didn’t really know what was going on," says next door neighbor Kate Forbes.
Right before midnight police say a Ford F450 dump truck crossed the yellow line and went flying into the house. Luckily no one inside at the time was hurt but significant damage was done.
Police took the driver, 23 year old Zachary Nyblom into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence, something that’s raising concerns for neighbors on the quiet street.
"I have kids and its scary because this is kind of a cut through road but I’m just hoping it’s a wake up call for the guy who crashed," says Forbes
"If someone is driving drunk around these streets it makes me worried not only for them but for my family as well," says Brandon Faign.
Police tell ABC6 News that the driver will be arraigned on Monday morning at the McGrath Judicial Complex.
