CANTON, Mass. (WLNE) – American fast-breakfast chain Dunkin’ Donuts announced Tuesday that it will be officially shortening it’s name and brand to just “Dunkin’.”

The Chief Marketing Officer of Dunkin’ Donuts, Tony Weisman, announced through a letter posted on the chain’s website that the iconic brand will soon no longer include the word “Donuts.”

Starting in January 2019, customers can expect to see the new branding on advertisements, buildings, packaging, and social networks.

The change will also be reflected in a new logo, which will be featured on interior and exterior signage at Dunkin’ restaurants in the United States and abroad.

Weisman called the name “simpler, shorter and more modern,” and clarified that the brand will still offer their signature donuts.

“This is a significant milestone for our company, and we’re incredibly excited about what this represents for our brand, our franchisees and our guests,” said Weisman. “After all, America really does run on Dunkin’.”
