PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation, the charitable foundation run by Dunkin’, made a surprise $50,000 donation to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank Tuesday.

This donation comes in as the foundation celebrates its 10th anniversary of all-volunteer assistance to support food banks across the country.

“All of us at Dunkin’ are always proactively seeking opportunities to give back to the communities in which we work, live and raise our families,” said local Dunkin’ franchise owner Rob Batista.

The Joy in Childhood Foundation is hosting more than 100 volunteer events in April with 2,000 Dunkin’ franchisees and crew members volunteering nationwide.

The foundation has granted more than $49 million to national and local charities since its inception in 2006.
