Durfee High cheerleader dies after battle with cancer

The Durfee High School cheerleader who inspired her squad while battling cancer has passed away. With a heavy heart Fall River Public Schools announced Saturday night that senior Nelly Camara lost her courageous battle with Ewing’s sarcoma.
Even in her absence, Nelly was a strong presence at Durfee and her loss impacts many in the community. The high school will open Sunday at 1 pm, and counselors will be available to help people grieve.
A gathering will be held at 3 pm at the field house to honor Nelly. She was 17 years old.
