SOUTH ATTLEBORO, M.A. (WLNE) – Police in two cities are investigating a pair of armed robberies they believe might be connected.

The Gulf station on Plainville Street in Providence was robbed around 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning, and then another robbery occurred around 2:30 a.m. Monday morning at a Mobil gas station on Newport Avenue in South Attleboro.

The believed connection stems from both incidents involving a suspect wearing a unique “monkey” mask.

“Our investigative team is looking into all possibilities,” Attleboro Police Lt. Brian Kelly said.

Darien Diaz Rosario, who was working the counter when the robbery happened at the Providence Gulf Station was back at work just 24 hours after.

“I just got robbed,” Rosario said. “I’ve been through worse than that.”

Then Monday morning a man snuck up behind a clerk at the Mobil Gas station in South Attleboro on Newport Ave.

” [The] clerk did struggle with the suspect,” Kelly said. “During that struggle one gun shot round was fired from the handgun.”

The Mobil Gas station clerk that was shot was taken to RI Hospital where he’s expected to be okay.

Police have not named any suspects in either robbery.
