East Greenwich man charged with possessing knife, firearm while under the influence
EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (WLNE) — Attorney General Peter Neronha said an East Greenwich man was charged with carrying a knife and firearm while under the influence during a traffic stop in June.
Timothy Heffernan was charged with one count of carrying a weapon while under the influence of alcohol, one count of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, and one count of carrying a concealed blade of more than three inches in length.
The 34-year-old was stopped by an East Greenwich police officer on June 29 after he allegedly was observed driving erratically on his motorcycle.
Heffernan allegedly informed the officer he had a concealed carry permit and was carrying a loaded firearm, which police said they found in his waistband along with the knife.
Heffernan was also alleged to have failed a field sobriety test.
He is scheduled for a pre-trial conference on Jan. 4, 2024
