East Providence bike lane program scrapped

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – A pilot bike lane program in East Providence was scrapped Tuesday night, a week after its launch.
The East Providence City Council voted to remove the bike lane and restore First Street to its original setup.
The bike lane connected a gap in the East Bay Bike Path by splitting the street between bikes and one way car traffic.
The City says it will take a few weeks to remove the lane.
