East Providence City Council votes to greenlight roadway upgrades

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The East Providence City Council has voted unanimously to support upgrades for city roadways.

The council voted to authorize a contract extension between Mayor Bob DaSilva and Pawtucket Hot Mix Asphalt.

The $2.3 million extension was previously allocated into this year’s budget.

In addition to the list of preliminary roadwork, other streets across the city will also be paved.

That includes Pawtucket avenue, Kent Heights, Warren Avenue from Evergreen Drive and more.

Those areas also have other roadwork like water utility and gas line replacements projects.

East Providence is also working on a water main cleaning and lining project.

Several streets will be paved during those efforts in the neighborhoods near Pierce Field.

This includes First Street, Second Street, Burgess Avenue and surrounding areas.
