East Providence man arrested for shipping narcotics through the mail

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The East Providence Police Department said a 44-year-old city man was charged with firearm and narcotics charges.

Vazquez Ayala was charged with manufacturing, selling, and possession with intent to manufacture cocaine and heroin, possession of a firearm by person convicted of a violent crime, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of a large capacity feeding device, and warrant of arrest on an affidavit.

The case was investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service, Rhode State Police High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force, Pawtucket Police Department, and the East Providence Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit.

Postal inspectors investigated drugs being shipped through the mail to East Providence and Pawtucket, with Vasquez being allegedly involved.

A search of his residence also allegedly found cocaine, heroin, two pistols, a large capacity magazine, and $3,700 in cash.
