EAST PROVIDENCE: Newly planted Willett Pond tree vandalized

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — This morning, East Providence mayor Bob DaSilva is calling out an act of vandalism against a new tree at Willett Pond.

Mayor DaSilva posted a picture of the destroyed tree on Facebook, and said the disrespect is upsetting.

He wrote “It boggles my mind that someone would do this to their own community.”

Mayor DaSilva is asking anyone who knows who vandalized the tree to contact East Providence police.
