East Providence officials urge McKee to declare state of emergency over Washington Bridge

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Due to the Washington Bridge repairs’ impact on residents and businesses, the East Providence city council is asking Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee to declare a state of emergency.

President-at-large Robert P. Rodericks asked for the declaration, citing the negative effects the repairs are having on the city, its residents, and its bottom line.

“Our business are getting hurt and being strangled, which has a direct impact on the amount of revenue,” said Rodericks.
