East Providence police investigate possible child abuse case

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- Detectives from the East Providence Police Department were called to Hasbro Children’s Hospital on Thursday, Oct. 31 for a report of a possible child abuse case.
Doctors informed detectives of a 15-month-old in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with injuries described as potentially life-threatening.
The injuries were consistent with strangulation and blunt force trauma.
The infant was brought to Hasbro by his mother, Trinity Neal, 19, and her boyfriend, Jolaon Perry, 22.
Detectives launched a joint investigation with the Department of Children Youth and Families (DCYF), and Aubin Center doctors which lead to arrest warrants being filed for Neal and Perry.
Perry and Neal were taken into custody on Sunday, Nov. 10 and were charged with first degree child abuse, second degree child abuse and cruelty to or neglect of a child.
The infant has been released and is in custody of the DCYF and Perry and Neal were arraigned and held on $20,000 bail.
This is an ongoing investigation.
