East Providence: Video shows car into garbage truck crash that left two in critical condition
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — East Providence police have charged a Providence woman in a crash with a garbage truck that left both the operator and a passenger in critical condition.
Ziondre Ogiba, 21, is charged with reckless driving and several other infractions after East Providence police said she collided with the truck at a high rate of speed on August 8.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Mink Road and Wampanoag Trail at approximately 5:28 a.m., when Ogiba’s Nissan Altima was seen speeding toward the Mega Disposal truck on the truck’s rear camera.
The car collided with the truck, resulting in injuries that have left both Ogiba and her 20-year-old female passenger in critical condition at Rhode Island Hospital.
The truck occupants were treated for minor injuries.
According to the early findings of the investigation, the truck was stopped at the intersection’s traffic light when the Altima struck it at a high rate of speed.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing and additional charges may be filed.
