East Providence World War II vet honored for service in home visit

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A 99-year-old World War II veteran got a special ‘thank you’ for his service Thursday.
Edward Boudreau served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II.
An active-duty member of the Navy was on hand to present Boudreau with a special pin.

The ceremony was part of a “We Honor Veterans” campaign run by Visiting Nurse Home & Hospice.
Boudreau is a patient of their visiting nurse service.
Volunteers with Visiting Nurse Home & Hospice also presented Boudreau and his wife with an American flag-themed blanket.

He joined the Navy when he was 17 and trained to be a sea water demolition expert, known as a “Frogman” at the time.
Boudreau was also presented with a certificate of recognition from East Providence Mayor Bob DaSilva.
Asked if he had any wisdom from living to 99, Boudreau said: “That’s a tough question. Live well; live healthy.”
