El Salvadorian MS-13 gang affiliate caught by MA State Police in routine traffic stop

An MS-13 gang member wanted for homicide in El Salvador was arrested Feb. 18 (WLNE)

CANTON, Mass. (WLNE) — A Massachusetts State Police Trooper detained an MS-13 gang member who was wanted for homicide in El Salvador after he was stopped for having no light on his rear plate.

MSP pulled over a mini van on I-95 for driving violations on the night of Feb. 18.

Upon questioning the driver it was discovered that the man was affiliated with the MS-13 gang and entered the United States illegally.

The National Crime Information Center revealed that the man, 44-year-old Wilmer Garcia-Manzanares, was wanted for homicide and extortion in his home country, El Salvador.

Further investigation indicated that Garcia-Manzanares had committed multiple crimes in New York and had previously been removed from the U.S.

It was also noted that he could be armed and dangerous.

After Garcia-Manzanares was was arrested and booked, he was released to the custody of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The response requested for INTERPOL to be contacted — which had issued a Red Notice on behalf of El Salvadorian authorities.

MSP shared that the offender illegally entered the country on several occasions. After each time he has been captured and removed, he returned to the U.S.
