LINCOLN. R.I. (WLNE) — Police are searching for an unidentified suspect who assaulted an elderly male with a Taser in his home on Friday, according to Lincoln police.
The unidentified male suspect allegedly entered the elderly man’s home on Woodward Road through a partially opened window and confronted him in his bedroom while he was sleeping.
Police say the suspect then assaulted the resident with a “Taser-type device” after demanding money from him.
The confrontation ended when the suspect stole the man’s wallet and fled out the same window he had entered.
The victim believed the suspect to be a male between 5 feet 6 inches tall and 5 feet 9 inches tall.
Officials reminded nearby residents to take extra precaution in and outside their homes to prevent any property crimes.
“We would also like to remind residents to take precautions such as using exterior/motion lights and restrictive devices on their windows if they are going to leave them partially open on warm nights,” said Captain Gould.
Lincoln police are asking anyone who may have seen a suspicious person or vehicle in the area at that time to contact Detective Obrien at 401-333-1111.
