Elderly woman found dead in her kitchen

EAST PROVIDENCE – An elderly woman has died following a kitchen fire inside her home.
According to fire officials, neighbors who regularly checked on the woman called the fire department around 10:30 when they received no answer from her at the door.
The fire department forced their way into the woman’s home and she was found dead in the kitchen. They also determined there had been a small kitchen fire.The fire was out when firefighters arrived.
It is unclear when the fire began and when the woman died. The case remains under investigation.
