PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence police said there was another break-in in the Elmhurst section of the city, just hours after they alerted residents of a man targeting women’s homes.

The incident happened on Pembroke Avenue shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday.

Maj. David Lapatin told ABC 6 News the woman who was targeted was in her 20s and living on the third floor of her Pembroke apartment.

The woman, whose name was not immediately released, reported that the man tried to get into her room but her door was closed, Lapatin said.

The person was described as a Black man who is 5 feet 9 inches tall.

During a press conference Thursday, Lapatin said a woman was sexually assaulted at her home on Pembroke Avenue earlier this week. A second victim was assaulted at about 4 a.m. Thursday at her home on Pinehurst Avenue.
