“Elvis” shoplifting suspect arrested after post goes viral

The shoplifting suspect dubbed "Elvis" because of his appearance in surveillance photos was arrested Monday.

Dartmouth Police gave 37-year-old Andrew Gaskell of Newport the nickname in a Facebook post asking for the publics help identifying them man in a leather jacket.

Rhode Island State Police arrested Gaskell, who has 10 warrants from Tiverton, Portsmouth and Dartmouth, in Newport.

He is accused of stealing $400 worth of merchandise from Sears an leading police on a chase that ended at the Rhode Island state line.

Police attribute the post going viral as one of the biggest factors leading to his arrest.
