EP High School student accused of setting fire in bathroom stall, filming incident

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — An East Providence High School student has been taken into custody after allegedly setting fire to toilet paper in a bathroom stall while filming the incident, which then circulated on social media.

According to an East Providence Police Department Facebook post, the 16-year-old student was taken into custody Thursday at 8 a.m. by city police detectives and school resources officers.

The student is charged with arson and vandalism, according to the post, and the investigation is ongoing.
