By News Staff
An excavator falls while The Army Corps of Engineers work on the break wall near the ballads on Sunday.
The excavator fell at 2 p.m. on June 6th after the Army Corps of Engineers have been working on a construction project for seven months.
Block Island Police Chief Vincent Carlone tells ABC 6 the heavy machinery on the barge may not have been properly placed possibly causing it to fall.
The excavator fell in the channel that leads to the old harbor dock and no injuries were reported.
The Harbor master is putting up a protective barrier for potential oil spillage. The Police along with DEM and the United States Coast Guard have responded and are working to secure the excavator.
