UPDATE: Explosion, fire destroys Taunton home

By News Staff
An explosion destroyed a home on Laneway Street in Taunton early Wednesday morning.
Homeowner Ingo Dutzmann tells ABC6 that sometime before 2:00 a.m., they felt an explosion. When the family exited, they saw fire burning on the other side of the home minutes later.
“We just watched in amazement and horror and sadness as everything went up in flames,” he explained.
There were 5 people inside the home at the time of the explosion: Dutzmann, his wife, son, daughter-in-law and an 8-year-old grandson. None of them were injured.
Fire Chief Tim Bradshaw says this is the first time he has seen an explosion send windows and doors – intact – feet away from the property.
Firefighters believe a gas leak from the generator’s propane tank may have started the explosion that led to the fire. They are still investigating.
