UPDATE: Explosion reported at Taunton Power Plant

TAUNTON, M.A. – Fire crews responded to Taunton Municipal Power Plant Friday morning for the report of an explosion.

Authorities say at approximately 11:30 A.M. there was a fire in a switch unit in one of the large circuit breakers which caused an explosion.

Everyone was evacuated from the building while fire crews worked on extinguishing the fire.

Police say one person has been transported to the hospital, with minor injuries.

No word on what caused the fire.

The investigation is ongoing.
