An explosion rocked a West Warwick neighborhood Sunday afternoon.
Police say it was caused by homemade fireworks.
Officials say a man was tampering with homemade fireworks Sunday afternoon causing a garage on Eddy Street to go up in flames.
Local, state, and federal officials quickly discovered the source: explosives.
A 40-year-old Coventry man is accused of mixing them to make fireworks, but were no where to be found.
Neighbors say he was in pretty bad shape, but managed to drive himself to the hospital.
Some saw the guy bloodied, but kept going in and out of the garage. He was holding his hand and a piece of his face was missing.
The neighborhood was evacuated for a period of time as authorities safely detonated the explosives.
So far no charges have been filed in connection to the incident.
