Explosive device thrown onto porch of Satanic Temple in Salem

SALEM, Mass. (WLNE) — A person threw an explosive device onto the porch of the Satanic Temple in Salem, Mass. on Monday.

According to Salem police, the incident occurred at 4:14 a.m. and no one was present at the time.

The damage and device went undiscovered until staff arrived at 4 p.m.

Massachusetts State Police bomb technicians on the scene said that the device was no longer a threat and K-9s swept the property for any secondary devices.

The Satanic Temple is no stranger to bomb threats and crimes.

In 2022 a man was arrested for arson at the temple and earlier in 2024 a Michigan man was arrested and charged for planning to bomb the temple.

Monday’s bombing is currently under investigation by detectives from the Salem Police Criminal Investigation Division and the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force.
