Fairhaven Police say donation letters may be illegitimate
FAIRHAVEN, Mass. (WLNE) — The Fairhaven Police Department said that letters asking for donations to the department some residents have received are not affiliated with the department.
The letters, which said they are from the “National Police Association,” said they were collecting signatures for a petition to be presented to the “Fairhaven City Council” to protect “quality of life policing” in the town.
The department said that the organization may be legitimate but has no ties to the local police.
