Fairhaven school closed after fire overnight

FAIRHAVEN, Mass. (WLNE) — East Fairhaven School will be closed today after a fire broke out on the second floor.

According to officials, the cause of the fire overnight is believed to have been caused by “a dual blade window fan plugged into an outlet on that exterior wall.”

The fire was quickly extinguished by fire officials.

Tara Kohler, Superintendent of Schools, said in a Facebook post that school will be closed on Monday to assess all next steps and to ensure a thorough cleaning of any smoke damage.
