Fall River business gives back: Mr. Chen donates to first responders
FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — Yesterday, a Fall River restaurant gave back to first responders across several cities and towns.
Owner of Mr. Chen, Dominic Chen, said since the COVID-19 pandemic, first responders have been taking care of the community.
As a way to show thanks, Mr. Chen cooked 70 trays of food to pass out across 8 cities of towns; from rice, low mein, and some of their top selling appetizers and dishes.
Workers at Mr. Chen’s packed all the food to deliver to stations, which was a complete surprise to officers.
“We are overwhelmed by the amount of food and support we have received from Mr. Chen and other local businesses here in the city of Fall River,” said Sergeant Moses Pereira from the Fall River Police Department.
“I think it goes both ways, the support we get from the community from the businesses and the residents. It helps to reinvigorate us and helps us to keep going on the hot days, the long days. It’s just wonderful to see the experience,” said Pereira.
Chen said he hopes to keep the tradition going every year.
“I wouldn’t be where I am without people helping me and I figured I could get other locals involved to give back to the front line,” he said.
