Fall River business owner Silvia to officially challenge Coogan in mayoral race

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — This afternoon in Fall River, a local businessman will kick off his campaign for mayor.

Last month, Christopher Silvia, who runs Christopher’s Cafe on South Main Street, announced he would challenge Mayor Paul Coogan.

In his July 10th candidacy announcement posted on his store’s Facebook page, Silvia said he knows the rhetoric he will face on the campaign trial.

Silvia’s husband, Nathan, has also announced he’s running for city council, with the two saying they’re focusing on homelessness and hunger as their main objectives.

Silvia’s mayoral campaign kick off will be at 2, at the abandoned Ethan Allen on Pleasant Street.

Silvia helped organize the fundraiser for Gabriel House victims.
