FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — The Fall River City Council adopted an ordinance Monday allowing the display of political signs on private property for a period of eight weeks prior to election day.

Signs can be displayed beginning July 5th and must be removed no later than 21 days following the primary for candidates running in the state primary.

This removal timeline is to be followed unless the candidate has been nominated onto the biennial state election.

Property owners are responsible for the removal of political signs within this 21-day timeframe.

The ordinance forbids the placement of signs on city property including abandoned buildings, utility poles, trees and parks.

Political signs and campaign paraphernalia are also forbidden from being displayed within 150-feet from the entrance of a polling precinct on election day or in-person early voting location.
