FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) – The Fall River City Council has passed a vote of no confidence in Mayor Jasiel Correia.
City Council President Cliff Ponte confirmed to ABC6 that the item passed with an 8-1 vote Tuesday night at City Hall.
The vote comes after Correia was arrested in October and charged with defrauding investors in an app he created called “SnoOwl”.
A vote to remove Mayor Correia from office did not pass.
Volunteers in Fall River have been collecting signatures, petitioning for a recall election.
A City Council vote to ask Correia to resign also passed 6-3 Tuesday night.
