Fall River firefighters rescue man from encampment fire

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — The Fall River Police Department said a homeless man was taken to the hospital after a fire at an encampment Wednesday morning.

Fall River police and firefighters responded to the MBTA Railroad Bridge over President Avenue around 8:30 a.m. for reports of a fire.

Upon arrival, crews found a tent and surrounding area on fire.

First responders rescued a homeless man from the encampment, who was taken to the hospital.

Police did not specify the extent of his injuries.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire.

Fall River police are investigating the incident.
