FALL RIVER, M.A (WLNE) — A construction crew hit a gas pipe Wednesday morning causing a gas leak in a Fall River neighborhood.
According to the Fall River Fire Department, crews responded to Bay and Birch Streets around 10:20 a.m.
The gas pipe was venting directly into the air, filling the air with the odor of gas, authorities say.
Surrounding homes were evacuated as a precaution.
Police say no injuries were reported.
