Fall River man accused of dumping 50 old hotel mattresses in city industrial park

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — A Fall River man has been arrested after police say he illegally dumped approximately 50 mattresses in the city’s industrial park area.

Hemson Etienne allegedly discarded the old mattresses on Innovation Way after he was hired by an area hotel to properly dispose of them.

According to the Fall River Police Department, Etienne transported the mattresses with a U-Haul truck rented in his name just before Christmas.

Distinguishing features on the mattresses and video surveillance led to the identification of the rented truck.

Etienne will be criminally charged in the dumping, and the City of Fall River will be seeking restitution for the cost to remove the mattresses from the area.
