Fall River man accused of spitting blood at paramedic, kicking officer

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — A Fall River man is facing several charges after officers discovered the individual attempting to break into a residence. 

On Saturday, August 17, officers said they received a call to the 100 block of Eighteenth St. for reports of a disturbance. 

Upon arrival, officials said they detained 43-year-old Jose Santa, who had broken into the windows of a residence in the area prior to the officer’s arrival. 

Santa, who was walking away from the area, was observed to be bleeding from the mouth by officers, so an ambulance was called to provide an evaluation.

According to police, while speaking to the paramedic, Santa allegedly spit blood into their face while attempting to spit on other responders as well. 

Police said continued to be combative with first responders kicking a police officer while flailing his legs and uttering threats.  

He was transported to Charlton Memorial Hospital for treatment.
