Fall River man charged for allegedly ramming car into bank

SANDWICH, Mass. (WLNE) — A Fall River resident has been arrested for allegedly intentionally driving his car into a bank in Sandwich multiple times Monday before entering the building after breaking a glass door.
Kevin Coelho, 38, is charged with breaking and entering into a depository, in addition to three charges of damage to property, according to the Sandwich Police Department.
Police have determined that Coelho intentionally rammed his car into the TD Bank on Route 6A at approximately 3:30 a.m.
Police say he repeated this action several time, eventually breaking the front glass.
At this time, Coelho is alleged to have climbed over the car and entered the bank after breaking another glass door.
Coelho made the call that brought police to the scene, stating he had struck the building after accidentally hitting the gas after arriving to check his balance.
Coehlo was held on $25,000 cash bail and was arraigned in Barnstable District Court Monday.
