Fall River man charged with assaulting a police officer
FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — Fall River police responded to reports of a disturbance on Lawton Street on Tuesday at approximately 10:50 p.m.
Yukeny Fletcher, 34, of Fall River, was discovered bleeding from his arm and refused to allow officers or EMS to tend to his injuries, according to Fall River police.
At this point, police say Fletcher threatened officers and threw items at them, resulting in one officer being struck in the arm with a rug and a mop.
Police later learned that Fletcher had attained his injuries after punching several pieces of glass with his bare hands during an earlier argument at another location.
Fletcher was taken into custody and transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment where he was later taken into custody by Rhode Island State Police.
He is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault on a police officer, threats to commit a crime and vandalism.
After treatment of his injuries, Fletcher was taken into custody by Rhode Island Sheriffs pending extradition back to Fall River, according to Rhode Island State Police.
